Getting stuff done

I’ve had a setback.  My goal is to post one blog per week.  Hasn’t happened. I have no excuse.

I’ve thought of so many blogs to write about since my first post but . . . nothing. I’ve been asking myself why that is and I think it’s because I feel like I am supposed to write longer and more insightful blogs than what I’m willing to do. But you know what?  I don’t. If I want to write 5 sentences, then that’s what I’m going to do.  I just need to write something. If I just do something, then something leads to more somethings and before you know it, I’m blogging like a blogger should.

I credit my inspiration today to a blend of peppermint, wild orange and rosemary essential oils that I’m diffusing in the room.  This is a blend that almost never fails to give me a boost of energy to get me moving.

Peppermint and Wild Orange essential oils are a great non-toxic pick-me-up to help perk you up when you’re dragging or just not feeling motivated.  If I don’t have time to diffuse, I put a few drops of each in my hands, rub them together and then cup my hands over my nose and mouth and inhale.  It helps to clear the sinuses in addition to that energy boost I feel.

Peppermint may also help to support relief of an upset stomach. I have a bottle of doTERRA Peppermint Beadlets that I like to keep on hand. These are tiny, soft vegetarian beadlets that you can just pop in your mouth. Helps freshen your breath too.

I suffer from vestibular migraines and peppermint oil, along with a few other oils I’ll discuss in another blog, helps me with the headache if I catch it early.  I mix the peppermint oil with fractionated coconut oil (oil that always stays liquid) and put it on my forehead, temples, back of the ears and back of neck and I get some relief.  Some days more than others and some days not at all.  It’s hit or miss for me but on those days that it works, I feel so much better knowing I knocked out the headache with a natural substance.

Wild Orange essential oil comes from the orange peel.  It is a great non-toxic cleaning agent that also leaves the house smelling nice. It’s an uplifting citrus scent that I sometimes diffuse in my home just for the scent. If I’m ever feeling a bit “blah,” a whiff of Wild Orange essential oil helps with that.  Put it in your hands and inhale or just inhale it out of the bottle like I often do.

Rosemary is my absolute “go-to” when I need to focus.  If I just don’t feel motivated, but need to be, I put a few drops in my hands and inhale.  It has never failed to get me focused. Whether it’s real or imagined, I don’t care. All I know is if I use that oil, I get stuff done. As long as I use it properly, I’m not harming myself so the way I see it, who cares if it really works or it’s all in my head?
